The Worshipful Company of Curriers

There is a long tradition of links between City of London Livery Companies and Units of the UK Armed Forces - the Curriers' Company is no exception for it first forged a link with 7 Squadron in 1999. Due to the continued generosity of the Company the Joint Special Forces Aviation Wing's (of which 7 Squadron is a part) social facility, 'The Fast Rope Inn', has been developed further.

The craft of the Currier was to transform stiff leather into a pliant workable material from which the final craftsman could produce finished products. The process of currying still takes place today but has been largely incorporated into the tanning stage and no separate trade exists.

The Mystery of the Missing Squadron Silver!!!

The 7 Squadron Silver Collection went missing a long time ago - there have been attempts to trace the collection without success. As 7 Squadron will celebrate its 90th birthday next April it would be great if the collection could be found in time for those celebrations.

The Association has been informed that when the Squadron ceased flying Lincoln Bombers, during 1955 , the then Commanding Officer, Squadron Leader D.C. Saunders authorised the then adjutant to deliver the collection to an Air Ministry building in London, and this was done. Could it be Queen Anne's Mansion ? The building has since been transferred to the care of the MOD. Is it possible that the collection, and the collections of many other squadrons that ceased flying at that time, could still be in this building?

The latest news suggests that it may be in store at RAF Uxbridge.

7 Squadron not only has a glorious history, but as the remaining Pathfinder Squadron still on Active Service it deserves all our assistance in it's search.

Can you help?
